We are now at the final post of our Chakra Series, which is our Seventh chakra, or Crown Chakra. The Sanskrit name for the crown chakra is “Sahasrara” which means “thousandfold.” This chakra is located at the top of the head, and when working with […]
We are almost to the end of our Chakra Series! Today’s post is all about The Third Eye. The Third eye Chakra, also called Ajna in Sanskrit, means “to perceive” or “To Know.” This chakra is located above and between the eyebrows. This is […]
Today we continue with our Chakra Series with our 5thChakra, which is located at the throat. In Sanskrit this chakra is referred to as the “Vishuddha” which means “Purification.” When working with this chakra we are looking to purify our intention in regard to speech and communication. We learn to choose words that bring value and meaning, not just empty chit chat. To reach a pure form of truthful communication, we must first work our way through the previous four chakras, so our throat chakra can fully open, and we are free to speak to productively express ourselves. This chakra is all about personal expression combined with responsibility.

How does your Throat Chakra Spin?
What is the current status of your throat chakra? Is it too open? Too closed? Or is it spinning in harmony? Here are the symptoms of each….
Too Open- If your chakra spins too fast you may be over-talkative, dogmatic, self-righteous, or arrogant
Blocked or closed- If your chakra spins sluggishly or not at all you may find yourself holding back from self expression, unreliable, or holding inconsistent views.
A Balanced Chakra- which spins at the correct speed will make one a good communicator, contented, easy to meditate, and artistically inspired.
A word about Archetypes….
The two archetypes associated with the throat chakra are the communicator and the masked self. When our throat chakra is out of balance one “masks” their true self. They are incapable of openly and honestly expressing themselves. In contrast the balanced individual will be excellent communicators. They “walk their talk” and they know how to express themselves with amazing clarity and purpose.
Throat Chakra Meditations….
As mentioned in our other chakra posts, I use an app called “Insight Timer.” If you are interested in some throat chakra meditations, here are a few that are available on the app….
I hope you are enjoying our chakra series. Our next post will be on the Third Eye Chakra.
Getting to the “heart” of things…. Continuing on with our Chakra series, today we will be discussing the “Anahata” or Heart Chakra. This chakra is our 4thchakra, and is located at the center of our being…the heart. The heart chakra lingers between the two worlds […]

This year, to celebrate our 23rdwedding anniversary, my husband, kids, and I decided to head out to visit some wineries on the Monticello Wine Trail here in Virginia. If you have not visited a winery (or now cideries!) in Virginia, we highly recommend them! Not only are the wines and ciders, great tasting (and so many varieties!) they are also located in the most beautiful of surroundings! You can’t beat the views! (And we have lived on both coasts!)
Click the photo to learn more about the wine trail!
First up on our trip was Stone Mountain Vineyards. My husband and I hadn’t been there in a couple of years, and the first time we went, we fell in love with the view. We knew we wanted to start this road trip there to have lunch, so that is what we did. The road to get up to the winery, had just been plowed down when we arrived. We have been having so much rain here in VA, that the packed dirt road to get up to the winery had washed out a bit in spots, so they had to fix it. Thank goodness it was well groomed by the time we arrived! The road to get up to the winery is a bit narrow, and you must go slow, but it’s well worth it for what awaits at the top!
Relaxing with a bottle of wine, and a packed lunch. The view here is just amazing! We had a nice chardonnay with yummy sandwiches with everything!
Next up was Moss Vineyards. We had never visited this winery before, and we are so glad we finally did! Barry the owner is a great guy, and his paintings are beautiful too! The wine was crisp and refreshing! So perfect for summer. The property was built and designed by him, and it is amazing! The view is utterly fantastic! We will be returning to this winery for sure. If you are looking for a place to get married, by all means, visit this place for a possible choice of venues!

Finally we headed to Glass House Winery & bed and Breakfast. By the time we got here, Ciarra and I decided to call it quits with the wine drinking (we know our limits! LOL) But my husband decided to have a glass of wine, while we soaked in the very unique atmosphere! I did have a sip of his wine, and it was delish! We will definitely be headed to this winery when we return (after Moss) so Ciarra and I can partake in a wine tasting. They also handcraft truffles an chocolates! I have to say this winery and property is very unique. It is a tropical green house sitting in the mountains of Virginia! We were surrounded by banana trees (and yes, there were bananas on them!) and sorts of tropical plants. It was so cool and comfortable in the greenhouse, and they were setting up for live music, which they have all the time. You can head to their website to learn more.
Arriving at Glass House! If you follow us on Instagram, you probably have seen a couple of photos of this amazing place already.

We can’t wait to return to the Monticello Wine Trail. There are SO MANY places to visit! It would take several days to visit them all, and I haven’t even included the cideries! (We have a post coming in the future from a few!)
We hope you enjoyed this post, and are inspired to visit the wine trail for yourself!!
A family tradition-Picking strawberries at Holly Fork Farm-from two different perspectives Ciarra’s Perspective…. I look forward to the different seasons we have here in Virginia, because they mark the start of fun family traditions like this! Going to our local farms and orchards is something […]
Shaping up for summer…my favorite ways to get fit for the summer season. I feel so much gratitude for being gifted the chance to live in an area where there are 4 seasons. Every few months I have new sights, sounds, weather, and foods to […]
We just wanted to share with you some of the photos we took for the “Sunny Sunflower Dress” from the “Gossamery Gardens”collection.
To learn all about this dress in detail, please click HERE. This style of dress is going to be available in other colors and prints, so if you aren’t particularly fond of sunflowers, there will be other choices available. We will be posting a poll to our Instagram stories soon, so be on the lookout for that. We would love to know what colors you think we should select. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
We were lucky, and had rather warm weather when we were shooting these photos. It would have been nice to be able to shoot photos in a sunflower field, but alas, it isn’t summer yet. I wanted to get this dress made, and up in the shop, so that those who wish to purchase one, can enjoy it in summer!
We hope you enjoyed our photos here, as much as we enjoyed taking them. Make sure to follow our Instagram account, so you can voice your opinion in our Instagram stories poll!
