The Chakra Series-the Sacral Chakra

The Sacral ChakraThis week in our Chakra Series, we will be discussing the svadhisthana chakra, or sacral chakra. If you missed our first post on the 1stchakra or root chakra, please go read it now here. In the root chakra post I suggest a great book to start with.

In Sanskrit the meaning of svadhisthana translates to “sweetness” and the associations with this chakra correlate with all the things in life that make it “sweet” like pleasure, sexuality, movement, nurturing, an change. By working with your sacral chakra on a regular basis, you will help those issues in your life pertaining to emotional, sexual, and creative balance.

The Sacral Chakra

HOW DOES YOUR SACRAL CHAKRA SPIN?….

The goals of emotional stability, creative expression, and pleasure all relate to the sacral chakra (2ndchakra) This chakra is continuing on from the base or root chakra (each chakra builds on the one before it) The archetypes of this chakra are the sovereign and martyr, which relate to abundance and how much we feel that we believe we deserve to enjoy in life. They are associated with the two polarities of pleasure and fulfillment, as well as suffering and sacrifice. So how is your sacral chakra currently spinning? Here is how you can tell;

Chakra is too open (spins to fast)- emotionally unbalanced, a fantasist, manipulative, sexually addictive.

Chakra is too closed or blocked (spins sluggishly or not at all)- over sensitive, hard on him/or herself, feels guilty for no reason, frigid or impotent.

Chakra is balanced (spins and correct speed)- trusting, expressive, attuned to his/her own feelings, creative.

When a person’s sacral chakra is balanced, you will find these individuals take on a very charismatic and personality, and you enjoy being around them! In contrast when someone has a sacral block, it can be draining associating with them, and they tend to love to push guilt over on everyone else, because they themselves are feeling it intensely. The balanced person will see the positive opportunities to every situation, and even when things fail, learn from it, and move on, or try again a new way. They take the good with the bad and grow, instead of wallowing in self pity and defeat.
